Video of the Day

Yes, the video is in German. You have to watch it until the end to see what they are making. All I have to say is that it is very clever, and let's just hope that you have some good batteries in it.

This video was brought to my attention by David from The Sufferfest.

Anyone up for a Christmas Coloring Contest?

While looking for a nice Christmas-themed picture to post on the blog, I came across this coloring page.

The thought occurred to me, what if I was to do a coloring contest? Would anyone be interested? I have picked up a few items from places like Outdoor Retailer - nothing super spectacular, mind you - that I haven't used, and would be willing to part with.

Leave a comment saying if you would be interested in a coloring contest. If there is sufficient interest (more than 5), I'll set up a flickr account for the contest, and come up with some rules.

T-Shirt of the Day

Today's TSotD is courtesy of a twitter friend, Zach J.

Zach found this truly awesome shirt here. Correction, Zach is the creator of this awesome shirt.

Eddy Merckx, the only cyclist to win the yellow, green, and polka-dot jerseys in the same tour, the 1969 Tour de France.

Proof that he is truly The Cannibal!

Even though I think it is too cold to ride outdoors, there are still bikes out on the streets (and sidewalks, in this case) of SLC.

New Year's Revolution Run

What are your plans for New Year's Eve? Are you in Utah? Do they include running?

Maybe you should consider spending New Year's Eve in Salt Lake City, and maybe they should...

Yes, normally this blog is dedicated to cycling, but since I have some strange obsession with triathlons, and since 1/3 of a triathlon involves running, the subject occasionally surfaces.

So, did you make a resolution at the beginning of 2011 to run, and haven't started yet? Want to get a head start on 2012? Want to put yourself into a caloric deficit in preparation for the festivities later on? I know of the perfect solution!

The New Year's Revolution Run gives you the chance to run in the climate-controlled Olympic oval for four hours on New Year's Eve morning. Run or walk as much as you want. Interested in doing a 5k? Run 11.3 laps. Up for a marathon? It's only a measly 95.5 laps.

Are incentives your thing? For each lap completed, you get an entry into a drawing for some nice prizes (you can also "cheat", and get additional entries by bringing in non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Utah Food Bank).

Along with supporting the Utah Food Bank, a portion of each registration will go to the Autism Council of Utah.

Come out Saturday morning on 12/31 from 8:00 to 12:00 and run or walk as far as you want. It will be fun, you will be supporting a couple of good causes, and it's a perfect way to end 2011 with a bang!

Registration info can be found here (use the discount code "NYRTen" today to get $10 off your registration).
