Bike-Junkie's Christmas Gift List

It's hard to believe that it's already December. It seems like it was just last week that I was commuting to work on my bike... wait, it was just last week.

With thanksgiving a lingering memory on our waistlines, and Christmas bearing down on us like a herd of reindeer, it's time for another Christmas gift guide - a small collection of things that I've seen at shows, on the interwebs, or things that I (not so) secretly want myself.

So, without any further delay, here is the 2012 bike-junkie Christmas Gift List.

Who wouldn't want a neon sign of a bike in their bike workshop? Nuff said.

Some Leg Lube - $8.95

I met with the Leg Lube founder, Austin, at Interbike and he gave me a bottle to try. I tried it while still down there, and was immediately sold. It has a great scent, leaves your legs "tingly", and you can use it in, or out of the shower (just need a little bit of water to help spread it). Best of all? You use a very small amount, so the 3.4 oz (TSA travel approved size) bottle will last you a looong time!

I saw these in a local paper, and had to include them in the gift guide. Locally (SLC) sewn out of recycled coffee bags. Coffee and cycling have a rich history already, why not carry your belongings on your next commute in a coffee messenger bag?

Some Tools and a Workstand - prices vary

There is nothing more satisfying than wrenching on your own bike. Make sure your cyclist is using the right tool for the job.

It wouldn't be a Bike-Junkie Christmas list without some bike-themed t-shirts .Endurance Conspiracy has some fun designs that take their cues from music - such as the Hendrix-inspired Merckx '74 European Tour, and their own version of the Bond girl. The Cycle Love shirt? As it says around the cog "For the Love of All Things Bike".

Quite possibly the best bottle made. It doesn't retain taste, is soft and squeezeable, has a clear stripe on the side (of opaque bottles) so you can see how much drink you have left, and the valve is simply awesome!

A Boo Bicycle - $2795(frame)

1. They're cool 2. Bamboo is sustainable 3. Did I mention that they're cool? 4. It's tough. Doubts on that? check out Tyler Wren riding his BooCross in the 2010 CX Nationals.

And Finally, Santa, please bring me a Bike Fit. - $150+ approx. (Check with your local bike shop)

Give the gift of comfortable riding. I had a bike fit done last month, and am very happy with the results.

Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays!
